How to Calculate Pavers for a Patio

Calculate the patio area in square feet, add roughly 5–10% for cuts and waste, then divide by the pallet coverage listed on the manufacturer's spec sheet for the paver you chose.

Break irregular patios into rectangles, triangles and circles, calculate each and add them together. For curved edges and diagonal patterns such as herringbone, use the higher end of the waste allowance. Do not forget base materials: crushed stone base and bedding sand are figured by depth and area, and jointing sand is figured from joint width and paver size.
